Town Forest Summer Campout

Troop 702 is taking to the Outdoors!

We are planning an overnight campout in the Reading Town Forest the night of July 25th (11 AM July 25 to 11 AM July 26). This trip will involve division into patrols of 10 or less, including adults, and include hiking, fire-building, camping fundamentals, cooking, shelter-building, and axe/knife safety.

One key COVID-responsible element of this trip is being able to form patrols of 10 or fewer, so we will need to limit adult participation on this trip and we will need to have a headcount ASAP. Camping will be limited to single-occupant tents or tenting only with a sibling or parent, so smaller tents are required. Several other practices are in place for us to ensure the safety of all participants.

Please sign up through Scoutbook under “Events” by Tuesday, July 21st. (If this isn’t working, we will send out a SignUpGenius) In order to participate, each camper must have an up to date medical form filed. These do not require a doctor’s signature (you should be able to fill in only parts A and B without a scheduled physical).

All adults must have passed BSA’s Youth Protection Training (will provide link). We will periodically provide more details as the week progresses and the plan comes together.
